Imagine Cup is the world’s premiere technology competition for students which aims to “solve the world’s toughest problems.” Every year, students around the globe are challenged to use their passion, creativity and knowledge of technology to come up with innovations that can help solve global challenges and make a huge impact in the society.
Over 325,000 students around the globe take part in this competition but only a few are chosen to compete in the finals. Last year was a triumphant year for us, as we were able to send finalists in the Software Design category and the Game Design category… and we emerged World Champion for Game Design.
This year, Filipino students yet again competed with other countries online to grab a slot for the World Finals to be held in New York, U.S.A. And the results…
We were able to grab a slot in 2 categories – Software Design and Game Design (only 5 slots) – We are going to the World Finals!
Team polymor.ph, composed of 4 schools – Far Eastern University – East Asia College, De La Salle College of St. Benilde, De La Salle University and Ateneo de Manila Univeristy, will be representing us in the Software Design Category (67 finalists competing).
And Team Signum Fidei from De La Salle University will be our contender for Game Design Category (5 finalists competing).
List of finalists can be viewed in the Imagine Cup website: http://imaginecup.com/worldwide-finals/2011-finalists-winners
Another great year for the Philippines! Wish us luck as we prepare for the Imagine Cup World Finals in New York (July 8-13).
